HOW IT STARTED

HISTORY

1999

1999

In 1999, Dr. Alexander T. Gramaje, a veteran hotelier, thought of putting up a school for hotel and restaurant manage- ment and called it the International School for Hotel and Restaurant Management, or ISHRM. Thus, in October of that year a hotel and restaurant management training center emerged at the Conrado Commer- cial Complex, in Bacoor, Cavite along the Aguinaldo Highway. The training center initially offered a two-year course in hotel and restaurant management and other short modular allied courses.

2001

2001

Two years later in June 2001, now called the ISHRM School System, the school was given recognition by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and granted the permit to offer technical/vocational courses related to hotel and restaurant management. From a handful of students when it started, the school now increased in population. This prompted Ms. Edna D. Gramaje, the school president’s wife, to decide to join in the noble venture and share in the arduous task of establishing the school as a corporate entity.

2003

2003

In 2003 the ISHRM School System experienced another remarkable year as its enrolment continue to increase. That year too, the Commission on Higher Education granted the school the recognition to confer two baccalaureate degrees; the Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management (BSHRM) and the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA).

2005-2006

2005-2006

There was no stopping the phenomenal growth of the ISHRM School System. It became the largest HRM school in the province of Cavite in the year 2005-2006. Furthermore, the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines, in coordination with CHED awarded ISHRM School System the certificate of recognition as the primary institution in Region IV to implement the Ladderized Curriculum Program in Hotel and Restaurant Management. In a formal ceremony at the Malacañang Palace on April 24, 2006, it was no less than the then President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo who personally handed the certificate of recognition to Dr. Gramaje.

2007

2007

The original ISHRM School System campus in Niog could no longer accommodate its burgeoning student population. So in June of 2007, the people behind the success of the school decided to undertake the ground breaking signaling the construction of the original five storey building of the new campus. Ten years later, on this property the “dream” ISHRM Hotel School now proudly stands. Its facilities serve as venue for excellent training and quality education. It has a three storey thematic restaurant which is also an assessment laboratory for Food and Beverage Services and Events and Catering Services. Additionally, it prides itself of an elegant bar gym for it bartending program, a highly equipped laboratory for culinary and baking, an A Hotel (a Mock Hotel ) that showcases an elegant hotel lobby, a front office and five (5) suite room, computer laboratory, practicum (OJT) coordinator’s office, Mock Travel Agency Office , a Chapel Prayer Cell and Solarium Prayer Garden.
